IN ICELAND. 19 Icelandic side will be found in tlie ‘Islenzk Sagnablod,’ publislied by the Icelaudic Litorary Society at Copen- liagen (II. 1818, coll. 14-37), thenarrative bemg signed by Árni Helgason and Bjarni Thorsteinsson. All of these accounts reproduce the proclamations of Jorgensen oither in Englisli, Danish or Icclandic. A second proclamation, in 17 para- graphs, dated “Keykjavík, þann llta Julii 1809," and signed by JUrgen Jiirgensen, who here styles himself “Protector of all Iceland and Commander by sca and Land” (Alls Islands Verndari, og Hærstrádandi til Sjos og Lands). It begins with a preliminary rcference to thc previous proclamation of June 26 (see no. 84), thc flrst article declaring tlie assumption of power by Jörg- ensen (Ad Vér Jörgen Jörgensen, höfum tekid ad Oss Landsins Stjórn). At the bottom of the placard is the seal, with the initials, “ J. J. ” 86. This agreement is signcd by tlio con- tracting parties, and dated at “ Keykjavík, þann 22ann August 1809.”—Another (see nos. 84 and 85) document connected with the ‘Jörgensen Kevolution.’ The flrst of the 8 articles makes null and void all proclamations, decrees etc. issued by Jörgensen (Allar Auglýsingar, Tilskipanir, Bodord etc. etc., gefnar af Ilra. Jorgen Jargensen). It also ratifles the previous agreement made between Governor-general Trampe and Captam Nott of the Ilover, and completely restores the authority of the Danish crown over Reykjavík and the surround- ing regiou. 87. This royal rescript of Frederick VI., ordering notice to be given of the appearence of small- pox, is countersigued at the bottom by M. Stephensen, and dated from “ Islands Stipt-Amts Contoirv, þanvv 10da Oktohr. 1809. ” —The eopy is torn and somewhat defectivc. 90.
