24 BOOKS FRINTED wrote a catechism (Copenh. 1722) which he authorized to be used in his bishopric, and published four books in La- tin and Icelandic for the use of the Cathedral School : Donalus, hoc est: Paradigmata þartium orationis La- tino-Islandica, Hafniæ 1733 (12.°, lGOpp.); — Eþitomc Grammaticae Latinae, Hafniæ 1734 (12.° lf>9 pp.);— Lexidion Latino -1slandicum grammaticale, Pad er Glosna Kver a Latinu ogIslendsku, Havniæ 1734 (12.° 160 pp.) ;— Nucleus Latinitalis.... in usum Scholcs Schdlholtince, Hafniæ 1738 (12.° 2092 coll.), of which only the two last-mentioned are in the collection ; he also is author of two calendarial works, one printcd at Hólar 1707, Calendarium Gregorianum, (see no. 36), the other, Dactylismus ecclesiasttcus edur Fingra-Rim, at Copen- hagen 1739 of which a second unaltered edition was is- sued at Copenhagen 1838. Among unpublished works of his are an Icelandic - Latin dictionary and a treatise on Greek and Latin pronunciation. He died February 8lh, 1743. His biography by Dr. Grímur Thomsen is tobe found in“Tímarit hins íslenzka Bdkmentafólags’T. pp. 49- 63 ; and a biographical sketch extracted from the present commemorative volume was printed in C. P. Rothc’s Brave Danske Mœnds og Qvinders Eftermœle, II. Kbh. 1754, where the title of the present book is given in full. The collection now possesses a complete copy. This number is partly a rcvision of no. 26 in Bibl. Not.
