This man, who, as we have seen from the Belike stone, had had a hand in the erection of queen Thyre’s cairn, has been desirous of also doing honour to her memory by an inscription on the large rock lying near Laeborg. Worm and some others have, no doubt led by this inscription, supposed that this large rock has been the same as that, which, according to the statement of Saxo, 1 Ilarald Blue-tooth caused by the joint powers of men and oxen to be removed by the crew of his fleet from the shore of Jutland, with the intention of placing it on his mother’s tomb. The distance of thirty four English miles from the shore of Koldingfiord to Jellinge seems, however, to be rather long. THE SONDERVISSING STONE. Sondervissing is situate 23/4 Danish miles to the west of Skanderborg, and at a distance a little longer to the NW of Horsens. The stone is 8 feet high, 4 feet broad, and 7 feet thick.
