The Women's Alliance wants 9 Iceland and the other Nordic countries to be declared nuclear-free areas, 9 the termination of all new military projects in Iceland, 9 Iceland to become financially independent of the military forces lo- cated here, 9 all military alliances broken up, 9 the arms race to cease and all weapons in space banned, 9 the nuclear powers to declare an immediate test-ban on weapons, 9 the nuclear powers to vow not to use first-strike nuclear weapons, 9 Icelanders to take the initiative in disarmament negotiations, 9 Iceland to adhere to it's agreements concerning aid to developing na- tions, 9 the establishment of peace education within our school system, 9 Icelanders to work for the protection of human rights and support each nation's right of self-determination, 9 a ban on the disposal of nuclear waste and poison in the sea, 9 to show cooperation and support for the struggle of women all over the world, for the life of the earth's children, for peace, for freedom, and for equal and just distribution of the earth's resources. 43
